Statements linked to Dido Ali Rasso ,MP for Saku constituency about the recent anouncement of Amb. Ukur Yatani, the former governor of Marsabit County’s appointment as a cabinet secretary has elicited strong criticism on facebook and other social media platforms with many people expressing their disappointments with the MPs remarks.
The remarks published in the Daily Nation read “We are happy there could be a cabinet Secretary from our region but our only regret is that the president picked the wrong person. Those who rejected him at the ballot on August 8th, 2017 are in shock. At an appropriate time, we will come out to state our position as a people on this”
Amb. Ukur Yatani expressed his surprise in an interview on Citizen TV on being selected by President Uhuru Kenyatta to his cabinet to a docket which is yet to be disclosed.
This comes after other local leaders came out to thank president Uhuru Kenyatta for his appointment of Amb. Ukur Yatani. Rasso’s counterpart, M.P for North Horr said that Uhuru Kenyatta’s cabinet shows the diverse faces of all kenyans.
The appointment of the Cabinet Secretaries has been of great interest to residents of Marsabit County as some of the arrangements in the pre-election pact with jubilee for FAP included an appointment in the government.
The CS for sports Dr. Hassan Wario is among those dropped from the cabinet secretaries even with the request of Borana Elders in Moyale asking Uhuru Kenyatta to retain Dr.Wario in the cabinet.
In Marsabit Amb. Ukur’s supporters gathered at Imperial Dale hotel while those in Nairobi led by North Horr MP Chachu Ganya gave a press briefing at the Boma Hotel.
