Marsabit County should prioritize the tourism sector as a way of spurring development. This is according to Saku Member of Parliament Dido Ali Rasso. Speaking to the media in Nairobi, Rasso said that embracing the tourism sector will raise the county’s revenue tremendously increasing employment opportunities and the growth of the county internationally. He added that the county is rich in resources such as wildlife, wind energy and solar energy as well as a rich culture saying these can be used as a tourist attraction.
The Member of Parliament said that he would present a proposal for the return of the famous Ahmed to Marsabit. The elephant protected by presidential decree by Jomo Kenyatta and whose skeleton is now at the Nairobi national museum . His concern was that development can be deterred if leaders do not work together.
Dido Ali Rasso refuted claims that Jubilee wanted to offer him a Minister’s position adding that that would be a tribal move.
