(16/05/2018, N. Horr) Deputy Governor H.E Solomon Gubo Riwe and the Irish ambassador to Kenya Dr Vincent O’Neill have today toured outreach health facilities and various educational centers in Maikona Ward to fast track progress made by county Government and it’s development partners over the years of investment in the two key sectors.
The team witnessed tremendously improved and excellently working primary health care services delivered by county Government in cooperation with concern Kenya and other partners in the area boosted by the free ambulance services, NHIF cover and recently employed nutritionists and community health extensive workers . The area experienced remarkable improvement in communicable disease control and surveillance, water and sanitation health education, reproductive and maternal health.
The Deputy county boss promised that the county Government will expand the health center and nutrition operations in accordance to community needs, local capacity and provide technical support to staffs to further strengthen the primary health care service delivery.
The DG also thanked concernKenya and other development partners for building resilience consortium and strengthening resilience against disasters.
” I want to appreciate and recognize the excellent work that has been done by concernKenya. I have seen the success of these projects and I am proud of it’s visible positive impacts on the most vulnerable people across the country ” He Said.
He further lauded the progress made by the development partners in promoting girl child education .
” Campaign to boost the girl child access to education have paid dividends with official data showing that a higher percentage of girls are now completing primary school education ” Said the Deputy Governor .
He further called for a concerted effort from development partners and communities to fight unacceptable cultural practices that undermines girl child education in the county .
