Governor Mohamud Mohammed Ali has warned rogue contractors to finish up projects assigned to them or face the cancellation of tenders . He further threatened to sue and blacklist them from operating in Marsabit county.
Governor Ali, speaking in Kurkum after inspecting stalled Health center, ECD classroom and a borehole at Dadab Malaba said that rogue contractors colluding with officers in his government to do shoddy work at the expense of taxpayers money will soon be exposed, sacked and legal action instituted against them.
He identified the construction of Kurkum health center that has remained unfinished since financial year 2015/2016 and an ECD classroom which was constructed in 2016 and has been lineup for renovation in financial year 2017/2018 . He wondered how such shoddy work goes unnoticed by government officials.
He warned that he will not sit and watch as taxpayers money is wasted.
“Don’t take us for fools. You offer substandard services, supply poor products, do shoddy works here and there and eat the rest of the money. Our people must get result for their money,” he said.
He promised to closely monitor all development projects through relevant departments so as to ensure that taxpayers money are spent properly.
Later in the day he addressed the residents of Kargi town accompanied by first lady, Senator Godana Hargura, Laisamis MP hon Malimo Arbele, County secretary, CeCs,COs and host of MCAs.
