Residents of Hulala have been given 40 tanks with capacity of 10,000 litres each in a strategy aimed at enhancing community and household water harvesting by the county government.
Speaking during the event, Governor Ali said that with proper planning, harvesting and storage, rain water can greatly ease water crisis in the county as the locals approach October- December short rains. He reassured the residents that his government is committed in solving the perennial water problems as enough money has been allocated to projects aimed at easing the crisis.
Further 884 water tanks have been distributed throughout the county, 15 boreholes earmarked for drilling,12 purchased and installed in existing boreholes, 28 of them have been solarised, 19 masonry and 5 underground tanks have been constructed in the last financial year across the county.
With contract for expansion of Bakuli already awarded, the county government is also planning to invest in construction of two mega dams in Laisamis and Moyale sub county.
The county boss was accompanied by his deputy, county secretary, CECs,COs and host of MCAs where he handed over a newly constructed houses to the families of the two young pupils recently murdered by bandits while herding goats in hulahula.
