Speaking in Sagante/Jaldesa ward during the county jubilee leadership homecoming ceremony,Governor Mohamud Ali has advocated for  serious civic education to the masses as it is a prerequisite to public participation and ownership in projects.

He said one of the basic tenets of devolution is public participation and underscored the need for the residents to use the forum to ventilate some of the key issues affecting them. The county chief said, the constitution gives sovereign powers to the citizens and encouraged them to seize the opportunity and demand for people-centered governance.

” As a resident of Marsabit county you should own the process of devolution, sit together and look for local solutions that can address you’re problems ” he said.

He called on residents to pay keen interest on the allocation of resources and identify key areas in their respective wards that needs to be prioritized.

” Citizens should be able to know the amount of funds allocated to their wards across the county and monitor closely so that their key priorities are implemented ” said Governor Ali.

The county chief urged the residents to remain United so that they can amplify their voices for proper governance. He encouraged the youths and women to be proactive on matters governance as he pledges to honour the 30 % allocation of all the government procurement to youths, women and persons with disabilities.

” We need a vibrant generation of young people to steer this county into greater heights. My government will allow 30 per cent of contracts and employment opportunities to be given to the youth, women and persons with disability without competition from established firms” he said

The county boss was accompanied by first lady, his deputy, Senator Godana Hargura, nominated senator Hon Naomi Jillo, Women Rep Hon Safia Sheikh Adan, Saku MP Hon Dido Ali Raso, Laisamis MP Malimo Arbale, Moyale MP Hon Qalicha Gufu and host of MCAs where he commissioned Manyatta Jillo health center laboratory, Dub Gobba community water point and Badassa dispensary Maternity Unit.
